The rules for using UrbanEthica, short, fair, and written without lawyer jargon where possible.

By using urbanethica.com (the “Site”), you agree to the following terms. They are written to be reasonable for both you and us, and they form a legal agreement between you and UrbanEthica.

1. Agreement to these Terms

By accessing or using urbanethica.com you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use, our Privacy Policy, and our Affiliate Disclosure. If you do not agree to any part of these Terms, please do not use the Site.

2. About the Site

UrbanEthica is an editorial publication producing guides and articles about urban sustainability. The Site is owned and operated by UrbanEthica Editorial, based in India.

All articles, photographs commissioned by us, illustrations and layouts on the Site are copyright UrbanEthica unless otherwise credited. You may:

4. User submissions

When you submit a comment, a pitch, or any other content through the Site, you grant UrbanEthica a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to publish, edit and republish that submission on the Site with attribution to you. You retain the underlying copyright. If we publish your submission, we will let you know.

You agree that anything you submit is your own original work, does not infringe anyone else’s rights, and is not unlawful, defamatory, or otherwise harmful.

5. Acceptable use

When using the Site, you agree not to:

  • Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the Site or its servers.
  • Use automated tools (including scrapers and AI crawlers without permission) to download substantial portions of the Site.
  • Upload viruses, malware, or other harmful code.

6. Editorial accuracy

We make every reasonable effort to keep our guides accurate. City policies, transit rules, energy tariffs and product specifications change regularly, sometimes inside a single quarter. The information on this Site is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind. Always confirm time-sensitive details with your local authority or service provider before acting on them.

7. External links

The Site links to external websites we considered useful at the time of publication. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content, accuracy, privacy practices, or continued availability. Visiting any external link is at your own discretion.

8. Affiliate relationships

Some links on UrbanEthica are affiliate links. If you click through and buy something, we may receive a small commission at no additional cost to you. Our affiliate relationships are disclosed in detail on our Affiliate Disclosure page and never influence our editorial decisions.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, UrbanEthica disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. 12. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable consumer-protection law, UrbanEthica’s total liability to any user for any claim arising from use of the Site is limited to the amount that user has paid us in the preceding 12 months (which, for most readers, is zero).

UrbanEthica is not liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Site, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages. Nothing in this section limits liability that cannot be excluded by mandatory law in your country of residence.

13. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless UrbanEthica Editorial, its staff and contributors, from any claim or demand (including reasonable legal fees) made by a third party arising from your breach of these Terms or your misuse of the Site.

14. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Site at any time, with or without notice, if we reasonably believe you have breached these Terms. Sections of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination (including intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnification, and governing law) will continue to apply.

15. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, the “Last updated” date at the top will change. Material changes that affect your rights will be highlighted in the newsletter for at least one issue before they take effect. Continued use of the Site after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

16. Governing law and jurisdiction

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of India, without regard to its conflict-of-law principles.

Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or your use of the Site shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts of India, unless mandatory consumer-protection law in your country of residence requires a different forum.

Nothing in these Terms removes any consumer rights you have under the mandatory law of your country of residence.

17. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable by a court of competent jurisdiction, that provision will be enforced to the maximum extent permissible, and the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.

18. Entire agreement

These Terms (together with the documents they reference, including the Privacy Policy and the Affiliate Disclosure) constitute the entire agreement between you and UrbanEthica regarding the Site, and supersede all prior agreements and understandings.
